Stable Isotope Labeling by Amino Acids (SILAC) by using fully synthetic custom-made culture media from Cell Culture Technologies: Cultivation of 293EBNA cells in media totally devoid of L-arginine and L-lysine.

Eric Aeby, postdoctoral fellow of Joachim Lingner’s research team (UPLIN) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), Lausanne, routinely uses 293EBNA cells adapted to growth in our fully synthetic InVitrus VP-6 minimal medium. The molecular composition of the InVitrus VP-6 medium allows Eric to perform highly sensitive SILAC experiments, including but not limited to studies on the conversion of L-arginine to L-proline in mammalian cells. Once again, a well-reputed academic research team demonstrates the usefulness of our synthetic culture media to investigate the metabolic roles of selected cell metabolites in details.
